St Kilda House
A Victorian cottage extension that draws in the garden and sky to make a modestly sized home feel big.
The design seizes upon the opportunity for north solar access and a strong connection to garden. Whilst spaces remain modestly sized, generous openings and a shifting ceiling plane makes the home feel a lot larger.
With an east orientation to the rear, high glazing along the north boundary allows beautiful light to living areas across the day. To accentuate available outdoor space, a narrow deck brings the garden in close. Sliding doors retract out of the way to allow interiors and exteriors to merge.
Future potential for modification allows the sitting space to easily convert to a third bedroom if needed.
Collaborating with the owner's material preferences has created a home reflecting their unique style.
